From Monday 27 April 2026 to Monday 13 July 2026  |  Bebington Civic Centre

Course Details

Topics range from the Civil War to the 1932 Means Test Riots, from the Black Death to the Spanish Flu, from the two world wars to the Victorian leisure haunts on Wirral. Individual biographies spread across the course include Joseph Paxton (Birkenhead Park), Emma Lyon (Lady Hamilton), Sir Philip Toosey (River Kwai), Lock ah Tam (killer of three), Albert Laver (Cockleshell Heroes) and Norman Thelwell (artist). Add to this the startling stories of Wirral’s workhouses, the bravado of its Vikings and the fortitude of Mallory and Irving on Everest nearly 100 years ago.
