The Making of the English Landscape

From Thursday 30 April 2026 to Thursday 16 July 2026  |  Bebington Civic Centre

Course Details

For millennia humans have changed the physical appearance of the urban and rural landscape.  Over three terms we will consider these adaptations from prehistoric monuments, Neolithic farming, the desertion of medieval settlements and how our great manorial estates evolved.  Gardens landscape design and parks will feature together with the military fortifications of the Second World War. Using local and national examples, focus will also be given to contested landscapes – trespass, national parks, riots, rallies and conflict.  There will an opportunity to discuss what landscape means to you.
