Course Details

Course Outline: – (What we should write as copy in the Programme)

“Wondrous Place” – two tours of the buildings that make the city one of the architectural wonders of the world. Through slide presentations, group discussion and two walking tours we will try to understand the built environment, its history, its creators and Liverpool’s place in the world.

Course Content

Route 1 – Liverpool Waterfront

Week 1 – Introduction, architectural terms, styles, listing and a short history of Liverpool.

Mann Island

Week 2 – Albion House

Week 3 – Ventilation Building, The Mersey Tunnel

Week 4 – Port of Liverpool building

Week 5 – The Cunard building

Week 6 – The Royal Liver Building

Week 7 – Church of St Nicholas, The Unity building, New Hall Place

Week 8 – The Museum of Liverpool

Week 9 – The Royal Albert Dock

Week 10 – Walking tour of Route 1
